"said it once before but it bears repeating now"

Let's be honest; I haven't been the world's best blogger thus far. Granted, trying to do something with fashion while not having a photographer as I have been isn't too easy. So what I've decided to do is try this once again under much much better circumstances.

I got to thinking after this shoot with my good friend Kirk of Live Art Media and with many other incredibly talented friends in the past, why only collaborate with one person on a regular basis as so many fashion bloggers do? There is an abundance of promising local photographers, designers, and artists that have so much to offer and deserve a global audience. And that is why I have decided to dedicate this blog to promote and showcase not only my taste in fashion, but the many beautiful and talented people I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis.

So for my New Year's Resolution (to match my New Year's outfit pictured above) I promise to all of my current, and hopefully future, readers to show you a taste of the elegance and edge I see in my everyday life, my eye for which is my true talent in this world.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's get this started.

I've been working on a few things, all massively distracting and keeping me away from the epic bloggers out there. But I'm about to free up a bit (well, in some ways) and hopefully I'll be able to return more regularly than once a month

An exerpt:

Seeing that, watching the first thing go right, all my adrenaline drained. I felt like there should have been a visible shadow of energy next to me, like if I could look quickly enough, I'd see it maliciously escaping. I could feel it leave me, like reaching that point was enough reason for my body to give out now that something, anything was secure. Could almost hear it say "we've got to pass out now, nothing else matters. You've reached the minimum and that's all I need to give out, don't really care what you think about it. I'll take any reason to let this go." Try and fight that. Try and reason with Exhaustion and tell it, "but I'm not finished yet." See how far you get.

It's been ages.
Shocker.

Faith's work is incredible, more of her epicness to come once my life doesn't sound so inflated with fact alone.
Do you ever feel like this all must be a test? Where's that great deity parting the clouds to tell me whether I pass or fail then take me to the real game?

"and yes, she's a system and the plan, so devising. let's go!"

finally got some summer in there. Kirsten (I Can't Make You Love Me) and I ran around like fools the other day. She stole my shorts. I drank her iced passion tea. We traded shoes we already own in mismatched sizes when the correct sizes were back at home in each others' closest. no damage done to k's converse, but my sandals are now a little too big.

finally got my camera remote in the mail, so actual regular blogging will now actually, er, happen. about time, right?

yeah, I am actually alive. hard to believe, I know. I've just been insanely busy so I figured I had to give you a little heads up with that last post to let you know that I was going to be a little preoccupied for a while.

I've started a new job that was seriously kicking my ass for a second there. I figured out later that I was the only one there starting out with my position without any previous experience or real protocol training, yay! But I've got it down now and my boss's "figure out the best way for you" approach to instruction actually did work out for the better, just made me absolutely panicked that I was about to be fired every second for about the first week or so.

Am also taking summer classes which aren't too bad. Public Speaking's a bitch but I'm also spending it with a couple good friends. And though Advanced Composition is at night, I'm an English nerd so I actually really like it... don't judge me :P

Sorry about the pictures, I can't seem to find someone who will actually help me out with the blog and take photos of my outfits, which are majorly 90's inspired currently. nothing beats the ska/grunge/surf rat of the 90's in my mind, it's pretty much my childhood as a wannabe tomboy street hockey wahine (which is an actual word) summarized. Listened to nothing but No Doubt and Nirvana for the majority of my life until I moved where they had never heard of either them. Damn un-ska, anit-grunge Nor Cal. Moved here and all the wore was L.L. Bean, which has, thankfully, evolved a bit since then :P

as for Sam, I call him Beast because he's actually the sweetest living thing ever. total affection whore :P

"mother I lost it all on the fear of the lord I was given"

I really aught to stop doing this in direct sunlight so I'm not forced to wear shades in every post and then maybe I'll look like a person and not a terminator.
How do you like the processing here? Each is a little different, but all essentially upping the "shadow" "contrast" and "fade color" settings on iPhoto, just varying degrees.
Also got a black pair of these pants, which came with these tears, though I've since torn both pairs a bit more to emulate the Topshop versions and am thinking of going back for a second set to do this to. freaking only way I'm even going to come close to wearing pants this summer.

"far more shocking than anything I ever knew, right on cue"

Guess the song, I wasn't freaking joking

I miss my roots. they have that badass kinda "I don't give a fuck" vibe. Redid the hair a few days ago and now I feel too nice.

Don't like it.

Went on a blind date the other day, really is as awkward as everyone says. Totally nice guy, just not very well matched. Was incredibly surprized when I wanted to pay for my own coffee. I've got friends' boyfriends who want to pay for my lunch/coffee/life.

What decade do they think they live in?

Oh, I took the Chloés out on the streets and had to book it to not get hit by this post truck. Dude then pulled up next to me and shouted "Damn you sure can run in them heels, I'm impressed!"

This may be my proudest moment evar.

guess the song in the title and you get a pat on the back, that you'll have to give yourself because *sigh* I don't know you.

yes, that's a bottle of Sofia Rose in my hand, totally freaking inapropriate with my song choice, which would go well with absinthe and sex. though lots of beer might work too. eh, maybe not.

but no, I'm going off with my girl wine and that I'll drink while singing along to "Catus Tree" by myself

I've been freaking living in these wedges, even after a particularly brutal leg work out that had me hobbling around hours after, which of course gave my friends reason to point out yet again how silly and unreasonable I was for buying these and that they couldn't possibly be comfortable, even thoughtheyfreakingaresodealwithitpeople.
:P
And freaking yay? for the unseasonably warm weather, so insanely confusing, I keep thinking I can tan or  start bikini shopping. Anyone else having trouble with this?

1.11.2009

I've got to apologize for the lack of outfit posts, I've kinda been wearing the same thing over and over again and didn't want to bore you with it. But now that I've got the Chloés and my American Apparel order is on it's way, I promise to wow you all with some of that high-brand-low-brand magnificence that we all love so, but for now it's back to work.

Heaven knows, it's got to be this time

So I'll leave you with a little polyvore hawtness. This is actually entered into a few contests for I dunno what, but if you feel like it click away and vote for me.

Also, does anyone know how to specify what ads you display? Mine were Free People forever and now I don't know what's going on. Help!

Snowed like a mother today, and I, oddly, am not wearing a coat in these photos. Silly me.

Truth is, I looked insanely huge in my blazer and coat so I did it without. Thinking about it now, I'm a twat. My coat is gorgeous. What is the point of having a blog if I can't get past looking twenty pounds heavier than I am and wear my fucking fantastic coat inthegawdamnPHOTO?!?
Grrrrrr.

To resolve my issues with the coat and myself, I'm now going to take it out on my treadmill. With loud music. Loud, angry, retaining-water music. Whatever that is.

I know I don't make any sense. Just wait until I start posting in French as well. Ma grammaire est merde. Muahaha.

I have heard, on many an occasion, this funny little rumor that Winter is supposed to freaking be cold. How silly of me to believe such things.

The above Exhibit A will prove to the defence that it is, indeed, Warm Outside and that the defendant, Mother Nature, is falling down on her duties to provide a picturesque weather pattern over the Holidays and through to Spring for those kindly people in the Seirra Mountains who so freaking deserve it. Otherwise, Thomas Kinkaide will have nothing to "paint" and therefore have no "revenue" and so the world economy will collapse.

Do you want that on your head Mrs. Nature? Hmmm?

... I'm pretty sure that's how conservatives would spin it if there were said trial. :P Can you tell I can't stand the Kinkade? Everyone here freaking adores the idiot. It's Comercial Art, people. Get over it.

Sorry, rant over. Now Friday was my birthday and I was an idiot an didn't take any pictures. So I will get on that an re-create my Birthday Suit and post it probably ....Tuesday? Yeah, more dental work tomorrow. I really want to spare all you poor people from seeing my bloated dental-work face if at all possible.

On the other hand, I go birthday money, woot! And my Pre-New Years Res is to get myself some decent luggage-y things, so I've started by lusting after this toiletries bag. So, To Buy or Not To Buy? Tell me now cuz the sale ends today.

Good god, am I ever going to get to that era of blogging where I'm not apologizing for the lack of posts every post?

Wouldn't that be nice.

The mess of photos is kinda the fault of my being on vacation (!) for the past two weeks which complicated things a bit. Pesky Vacation.

The hat in the pics is something I just tried on in a shop, but didn't end up buying. I figured Lulu might get mad if I stole her hat thunder :P But really, just a touch too much money and I've got this rule if I really love something that's too pricey; it's Meant To Be if I've come back later and its still there and I have the funds. Yeah, that hasn't really worked out too well. Especially because I've always capitalized Meant To Be.

Unnecessary capitalization is so the new quotation marks.

More to the point, I was tagged by the lovely chicka behind Le Smoking and Le Fashion ages ago and I've finally had the wherewithal/technology/consciousness to post them, yay!

So here are a few non-important things/habits/quirks about myself

• I hate nail files
• I didn’t learn how to spell my middle name until I was 13
• I hate being cold, but love cold weather and the clothing that follows
• I am the world's biggest beauty nerd. For God's sake, I've had a subscription to Allure since I was twelve. Case in point, see above picture of me with my first can of Elnett.
• My floor is cement, no carpet or wood flooring, and I love it. No. Really. I'm actually serious. There's paint splatter everywhere and it's so completely bitchin I can't even tell you.
• I don’t actually have a closet, but instead I have an mobile clothes rack so my clothes are kind of my decor
• It took me years to convince people that I wasn’t a vegetarian or from Europe.

And here are a few things that make me happy.

• My Golden Retriever, Sam. (awwwwww, I know. I'm a sap)
• Mandarin Oranges
• Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes
• Dramedies
• Truman Capote
• Arizona Green Tea
• House

But Ed, if you read my blog and want to do this tag you are perfectly welcome to it... in or out of character :P

PS how do you like the makeover? took me long enough right?

Ta-da! I finally have my own blog. Honestly, I don't know what took me so long, it's not like I actually had to do anything. Anyway, here begins the beastly ramblings of a California girl who is obsessed with fashion and who, with any luck, fashion might soon be obsessed with :P

Please excuse my puffiness, I'm usually a bit more angular, but I just had some dental work done and I always come out of it just swollen enough to make me look like I'm twelve again.
