Proud American, Dissapointed Californian

I'm gonna take a small break from fashion (barely) and talk a touch about politics. If this bothers you or you are Anti-Gay Rights, please do not read this post.

As you all know, Prop 8 was passed on Tuesday and I have to say that I feel horribly guilty. Although I voted against it and had several heated "discussions" with friends and family alike trying to persuade them that it is indeed a civil rights issue, and not an intended offence to any one's God, I feel like I didn't do enough to defeat this retched thing. I focused far too much on our President-Elect and not enough on my friends.

So I am taking this time to sincerely apologize to those who this abhorrent bill has wounded so deeply. I can't even begin to imagine how badly you are hurting and promise you that I will do everything I can to help overturn it. I fiercely believe that it will and I am certainly going to be a part of it. I only wish that it had never been even attempted so that you, my friends, could have never felt this hurt.

Please tell me if there is anything I can do. I want to know about any rallies or protests in the San Fransisco area and I will do my best to get there.

You have a friend in me,
Bridget

1: Congrats on the new president!:)))))

2. I don't know what this is about, but guessing it's about the gays rights to get married?

Americans can be so conservative sometimes....

But hey, Bridget it's ok to change your mind:)

things like these happen and put California in shame
i believe that this is aweful since cali is the home to many homosexual people and since america is claiming to be one of the most free countries in the world then why dont gay people get the right to get married? it's one of the most fundumental rights.

(if i understood correctly the situation-i am not American and not that involved into American politics ;p)

It just goes to show how backwards we really are here in the US. When I heard that they passed it, I felt a sense of sadness hit me.

All those people who vote for it really don't get. They think that they are saving the santity of marriage, or however its spelled and most Straight Americans don't even give a crap about marriage, and there always getting divoce and what not. Its just not right.

I live in NZ, which id HUGELY liberal, and it honestly scares me that there are people out there with such a lack of compassion for their fellow man. Everyone, everywhere deserves the same rights, there's nothing else to it. Well done for speaking out, you're helping just by bringing the issue to peoples attention :)

That is one of my favorite pictures ever. I think it really says a lot while saying very little. I can't believe we live in a society where civil rights are even up for debate. Denying gays and lesbians basic human rights is so far beyond disgusting. IDK how people can't see the correlation between this and the civil right's movement of the 60's. IMHO, no one should stand for this kind of discrimination.
